his post is here for you, just in case you ever need a little “pick me up”.  Or, if you are feeling down because you are just having a generally hard time.  Whether it be with learning English — or anything at all.  And it is ESPECIALLY here if you have a teacher who keeps telling you that the things that he or she is teaching are “Difficult”.

ack when I was first writing this post (I am re-editing it now) — I had just been creating a report for one of my students, based-upon some of the things which came up in our previous English session together.  She had stated that she wanted to work more on her pronunciation.  This, of course, is one of the biggest concerns for anyone learning English.  But for someone of her level (which was already quite high) it often becomes more important.

y “important” — I mean that it is important to HER.  Her pronunciation was already great, but she was not confident about it.  This is almost certainly because of all the so-called “Teachers” that are constantly droning on about how “Difficult” it is to learn English.  😡

nd, whenever someone has the determination to actually break-through that invisible barrier that SEEMS to exist just between the “Intermediate” and “Upper-Intermediate” or “Advanced” levels of English — then there is not much more for them to actually “learn” — as far as grammar.  But the continued learning of the language shifts to a world of repetition of what has already been learned.  This, in accompaniment with lots of work on pronunciation — along with massive doses of Lexis & Vocabulary.

ell… it’s a good thing that I’m not teaching “American English” here.  But the point is…  there is nothing difficult about it — regardless of what the “Teacher” in the video says.  And I was not going to send my student a video with someone telling her that what she wanted to improve was going to be “Difficult”.

he Truth is…  THERE IS NOTHING DIFFICULT about pronouncing ANY letter, word, or sound in ANY language.  It may feel strange at first, but with practice, anything can become just as easy as pronouncing your own name.  And telling someone that something is going to be “Difficult” (or any other synonym of that word) is ABSOLUTELY Ridiculous!!!  It only serves to put a message into the person’s sub-conscious mind which actually MAKES it more difficult than it normally would be!!!  Therefore — saying such things serves NO ONE!

nd that’s not just some pseudo-inspirational mumbo-jumbo that is supposed to make you feel better.  What I mean is:  If you have the physical & mental faculties — then you can do anything that anyone else with those same faculties can do.  In fact…  BECAUSE someone else with the same faculties that you have can do it…  it actually makes it EASIER for YOU to do it!  (Whatever that “it” may be.)  😎
