Introducing… “Closet Classics”!!!
“Closet Classics” – The Greatest
New Old Addition to GiveMeSomeEnglish!!!
Long long ago in a decade far far away… All the way back in the early 1980s there came a new channel to cable TV, called “MTV”… it stood for “Music Television”… yes, that’s right… they actually used to play full-length music videos, and concerts of great musical artists – AND they didn’t have any commercials at all!!! Only music, 24 hours a day… It was wonderful.
In addition to that mind-mushing awesomeness, they also had a thing called “Closet Classics”. It wasn’t a show (they didn’t have those either) – instead, a couple times a day, interspersed between: Duran Duran, Men At Work, and whoever sang that song about “Fish-Heads” – they would play a video from some great band from the 1960s or 70s, usually performing on a Television show. They called is “Closet Classics” because a lot of times, we tend to forget about stuff that we have by just shoving it in the closet, only to discover it later and think, “Hey, I remember that! That was awesome!”
And since it is definitely time to do some “Spring Cleaning”, I have decided to clean out the closets of GiveMeSomeEnglish!!!. In doing-so, I am launching a new category of blog-posts… you guessed it
The posts will be from resurrected, refurbished, and re-discovered, posts and pages that were long since lost and forgotten throughout the many re-organizations and re-configurations of GiveMeSomeEnglish!!! throughout the years. They will also include pages and posts that were started but never actually finished, so even though they are “new”, they are still a “Classic”.
The first post will be tomorrow, and I will intersperse them with other posts just like was the case with their name-sake.
So why does this qualify as a GMSE News article? Well, beside the fact that it is going to be AWESOME!!! 😀 – it is because I have finally finished three of the biggest and longest-standing projects of GiveMeSomeEnglish!!!, and now have a LOT more time on my hands to do such things.
The first was adding all of the TOEFL Testing Center pages for every single country in the world that hosts the TOEFL iBT Exam. That happened a few weeks back, but it was a project that took over a year to complete. You can find those by first going to the country page of your choice in the TOEFL Testing Dates and Locations pages at the GiveMeSomeEnglish!!! – TOEFL Portal, and then clicking the link which says…
To Find The Testing Center In Your Area, Click Here
(the text above is not an actual link, just an example)
So, if you or someone you know needs to take the TOEFL iBT Exam, let them know. 😉
After that, I managed to finally finish adding every word from The 3000 Most-Used Words in the English Language, to their respective entries on the GiveMeSomeEnglish!!! – Pronunciation Portal. Each title word in the different pages of The Pronunciation Portal is linked to its definition page on Wikitionary.org, so you can learn both its meaning AND pronunciation. ALSO, if you highlight ANY word or group of words on The Pronunciation Portal, you will hear its pronunciation spoken.
Well after that I finally managed to do the first TOEFL Excellence Recording. This is one of many recordings that will be part of the TOEFL Excellence Training system, that I have started developing. You can keep up with the progress of the training course Here.
The recording will be turned into a video very soon. I have already creating the intro and mastered everything, but now I have to learn how to add pictures and slides to the audio so that you won’t be looking at a blank screen. That is on my list of things to do right after finishing this post.
You can listen to (and download) the audio below
The second and third recordings have also been finished, and they will published on the same platform as the recording above, as well as being turned into videos as well.
Well, there is still a lot more, but I don’t want to “jump the gun”. I’ll let you know about everything else that is on the horizon when it is closer to being finished. So, we’ll leave it there for now – I hope that you all Have An Excellent Day, and…
Get Yer Ass To Class!!!
